What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2010 Silver Slugger in the Freedom League. It had already been a very special season for Phoenix's Mario Mayo, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.
All season long Mario Mayo gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .350 as he collected 216 hits, 19 doubles, 5 triples, 50 home runs and 140 RBIs.

AND THE WINNER IS... Mario Mayo.
The 2010 Freedom League batting race was won by the Phoenix third baseman. Mayo topped the batting chart with a .350 average. For the season, he cranked out 216 hits, 50 home runs, scored 134 times and batted in 140.

 | Friday, October 1st, 2010: Horne September's Best Bat Choice
Chris Horne battered Freedom League pitchers all September and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.
"I've been around United States Baseball Association long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 25-year-old Horne told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."
In 27 games, Horne hit .363 with 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 21 runs.
This season Horne has hit at a .332 clip with 114 RBIs, 44 home runs and 152 runs scored. He has played in 155 games.
