The Sparkplugs today announced that they have come to terms with Robert Mackey, a 36-year-old reliever they've been scouting for a while.
Mackey will earn $1,490,000 a year over 2 years and is expected to play a key role with the club.
In his career Mackey has compiled a 41-32 mark in 646 games with 576 strikeouts and 183 walks in 767.1 innings. He has been credited with 35 saves and has a 4.42 ERA. |

The Detroit Sparkplugs have called a press conference later today to announce the signing of reliever Brian Simeone to a 1-year, $1,210,000 contract.
Both Simeone and the Sparkplugs are said to be very pleased to come to this agreement.
During his career, Simeone has a 49-89 record. He has 774 strikeouts in 702.2 innings and has made 683 appearances, picking up 261 saves and posting a 4.56 ERA.

Mario Castilleja might be greedy, but there's no disputing his talent. The hotshot catcher will pocket $62,120,000 after re-signing with the Sparkplugs earlier today, and will hang around another 4 years.
Some more financially prudent fans worried that the signing would burden the club down the road and might prevent it from being competitive, though many others were simply thankful that Castilleja didn't bolt.
