Mike Sorensen bent a little, but he didn't break against the Red Sox. The Limestone pitcher hurled a 2-hit 1-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 1 walk and putting up 2 strikeouts.
"Mike is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on-base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
To this point in the season Sorensen has 2 wins and 1 loss and a 2.19 ERA.

 | Monday, May 9th, 2011: Taylor Fashions Shutout Against Pawtucket
Asbury rode the magical arm of Colby Taylor in a 8-0 shutout win over Pawtucket. He shackled them on 4 hits and fanned 4. Almost to a man, the Pawtucket Red Sox said he had them guessing wrong all game long.
This year Taylor has a 2-3 record with a 2.73 ERA.

It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Frontier League, but last week Lorenzo Encarnación of the Pawtucket Red Sox reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.
Encarnación rocked opposing pitching for a .478 average (11-23), 2 home runs and 5 RBIs to come away with the award.
This season in 17 games, Encarnación has hit at a .431 clip with 28 hits, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
