So far in his young career, Darrel Black has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Frontier League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 19-year-old Cook County Jokers center fielder hit at a torrid .481 clip as he collected 13 hits in 27 at-bats, 1 home run, 3 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
Black is batting at a .286 pace in 2011, picking up 62 hits in 217 at-bats with 1 home run, 9 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

| Tuesday, June 7th, 2011: Black Torches Twisters for 5 Hits
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Darrel Black of the Cook County Jokers. Black went on a tear at Boomerangs Ballpark and cracked hit after hit off Abilene pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond, the 19-year-old center fielder had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell 'em we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview.
Black got the accolades today, but the Abilene Twisters walked off the field with a 9-5 win.
D. Black doubled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off R. Aguilera in the 9th.
This season in 52 games, Black has hit at a .286 clip with 56 hits, 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Ricardo Marín of the Cook County Jokers was in command from start to finish in his 7-0 shutout win over the Asbury Saints. He struck out 4, walked 1 and allowed 6 hits.
"I felt strong the entire game," Marín said. "I felt like I had my good stuff. It was just one of those games when everything was working."
