Chicago-Los Angeles Swap: Schroeder for Morrison
Monday, July 13th, 2015: Both sides appear content with the trade finalized today that will send 25-year-old second baseman Paul Schroeder and 28-year-old right fielder Gates Doyle to the Los Angeles Crazed Natives, while the Chicago Racers will receive 21-year-old minor league starting pitcher Shannon Morrison, 21-year-old minor league second baseman Milton Richter, 21-year-old minor league second baseman Michael Ballard, 21-year-old minor league right fielder Zachary Jenkins and 21-year-old minor league starting pitcher Lance Harrington. "We feel this is a move that filled a few gaps in our roster," said the Racers general manager. For his part, the Crazed Natives GM said the trade was made "in the best interest of our organization's future." BNN analysts reported that on paper the trade seemed to be a plus for both ball clubs. Thus far this season Schroeder is hitting .268 with 19 home runs, 54 RBIs and 62 runs scored. He has 88 hits in 328 at-bats and has played in 88 games.
