| Breaking News | | Herring Selected Top Performer in UL Monday, July 20th, 2020: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the United League, but last week Joe Herring of the Hollywood Stars reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Herring rocked opposing pitching for a .458 average (11-24), 2 home runs and 9 RBIs to come away with the award.
This season Herring is hitting .273 with 105 hits, 6 home runs, 42 RBIs, scored 48 runs and played in 89 games. | | FL Player of the Week Awarded Monday, July 20th, 2020: 20-year-old Ed Griggs made a few Limestone headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Frontier League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 15 hits in 25 at-bats to put up a .600 average. Griggs collected no home runs, 10 RBIs and scored 5 runs.
On the year Griggs is hitting .283 with 104 hits, 7 home runs, 55 RBIs, .371 OBP and has scored 48 runs. | | Clark Cracks 5 Hits Sunday, July 19th, 2020: Today the Eagles downed the Jokers 11-10, but Billy Clark did his best to avoid that outcome as he lashed hits all over Tomcats Ballpark in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
"I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," the Cook County right fielder said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter."
Asked if he had a hitting philosophy, Clark said, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of good pitches to hit today and I didn't miss any of them."
Billy Clark hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Pedro Jiménez in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
So far this year Clark is batting .341 with 6 home runs, 58 RBIs and 51 runs scored. | | | | | Yesterday's Games - Frontier League | | Away Team | Home Team | Result | Time | Winning Pitcher | Losing Pitcher | | Cook County | Auburn | 10-11 | 7:05 pm | S.Schultz (3-2, 3.52 ERA) | A.Chávez (2-6, 5.84 ERA) | | Buffalo | Abilene | 2-8 | 2:05 pm | P.Kivikoski (6-6, 4.34 ERA) | D.Casey (4-2, 4.91 ERA) | | Limestone | Roxborough | 6-7 | 7:05 pm | J.Unknown (0-0, 0.00 ERA) | B.Campbell (1-5, 3.89 ERA) | | Asbury | Santa Fe | 2-4 | 7:05 pm | J.Unknown (0-0, 27.01 ERA) | F.Salinas (6-10, 4.51 ERA) | | Indiana | Bangor | 2-3 | 2:05 pm | J.Unknown (1-0, 2.35 ERA) | O.Ruíz (4-13, 5.45 ERA) | | Pawtucket | Little Rock | 5-1 | 7:05 pm | J.Unknown (0-0, 0.00 ERA) | J.Black (3-8, 4.73 ERA) | | Yesterday's Games - United League | | Away Team | Home Team | Result | Time | Winning Pitcher | Losing Pitcher | | Pekin | Northern Mariana | 8-4 | 7:05 pm | L.Montáńez (4-2, 4.59 ERA) | R.Perry (5-1, 2.82 ERA) | | Connellsville | Hollywood | 3-7 | 1:05 pm | A.Rangel (8-7, 3.03 ERA) | J.Unknown (0-0, 0.00 ERA) | | Pine Ridge | Myrtle Beach | 8-1 | 2:05 pm | M.Soto (8-8, 3.35 ERA) | M.Train (6-6, 4.42 ERA) | | Rockville | Chesapeake | 16-7 | 2:05 pm | J.Bautista (2-1, 2.85 ERA) | J.Unknown (0-0, 0.00 ERA) | | Texarkana | Gulf Coast | 3-4 | 7:05 pm | Y.Hoshino (3-1, 2.19 ERA) | K.Clarke (8-4, 0.98 ERA) | | Lisle | Fayetteville | 3-4 | 7:05 pm | E.Martínez (6-5, 4.00 ERA) | M.Clements (4-7, 3.99 ERA) | | | Today's Games - Frontier League | | Away Team | Home Team | Time | Starting Pitcher Away Team | Starting Pitcher Home Team | | Cook County (51-43, Road: 31-17) | Auburn (66-28, Home: 27-18) | 7:05 pm | LHP P.Youmans (3-4, 3.45 ERA) | RHP B.Castro (12-2, 3.59 ERA) | | Buffalo (58-36, Road: 25-20) | Abilene (41-53, Home: 20-28) | 1:05 pm | LHP G.Toldo (8-0, 2.30 ERA) | RHP E.Harrison (5-6, 6.49 ERA) | | Limestone (58-36, Road: 25-23) | Roxborough (37-57, Home: 13-32) | 7:05 pm | LHP M.Dyer (11-7, 2.47 ERA) | | | Asbury (37-57, Road: 17-28) | Santa Fe (42-52, Home: 25-23) | 2:05 pm | RHP B.Palmer (1-2, 4.98 ERA) | RHP G.Powys (4-8, 5.50 ERA) | | Indiana (29-65, Road: 14-34) | Bangor (50-44, Home: 26-19) | 7:05 pm | LHP W.Lovell (3-8, 4.71 ERA) | RHP B.Ellis (11-7, 3.32 ERA) | | Pawtucket (41-53, Road: 23-22) | Little Rock (54-40, Home: 27-21) | 7:05 pm | | RHP T.Oliver (8-6, 4.46 ERA) | | Today's Games - United League | | Away Team | Home Team | Time | Starting Pitcher Away Team | Starting Pitcher Home Team | | Pekin (40-54, Road: 19-29) | Northern Mariana (29-65, Home: 14-31) | 7:05 pm | LHP M.Kalawina (3-11, 6.01 ERA) | RHP P.Castillo (1-11, 6.51 ERA) | | Connellsville (45-49, Road: 24-21) | Hollywood (54-40, Home: 29-19) | 7:05 pm | | LHP D.Jarvis (10-5, 3.83 ERA) | | Pine Ridge (48-46, Road: 22-26) | Myrtle Beach (53-41, Home: 25-20) | 7:05 pm | RHP S.Brown (7-7, 3.54 ERA) | RHP M.González (6-8, 3.53 ERA) | | Rockville (61-33, Road: 27-18) | Chesapeake (37-57, Home: 18-30) | 7:05 pm | RHP T.Harrison (10-3, 2.84 ERA) | | | Texarkana (64-30, Road: 31-17) | Gulf Coast (43-51, Home: 17-28) | 7:05 pm | RHP B.Mathews (11-2, 1.96 ERA) | RHP M.Scott (6-9, 4.89 ERA) | | Lisle (55-39, Road: 25-20) | Fayetteville (35-59, Home: 17-31) | 7:05 pm | LHP B.Owens (3-1, 2.75 ERA) | LHP J.Brown (3-5, 4.56 ERA) | | |
