At bat the Cougars floundered, fizzled and failed to score.
"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Franklin manager said. "He kept us off balance."
The Naperville pitcher hurled a 5-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up no walks and numbered 8 strikeouts.
"I felt good," Schuler said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."
Schuler has a 2-1 season record so far. In 5 starts, he has fanned 23 batters in 34 innings with a 2.38 ERA. | |
