A red-hot bat made Michael Sharp the obvious choice for this week's Liberty League Player of the Week.
The New Orleans catcher laid down some numbers that no one else could match, including a .636 average, 14 hits in 22 at-bats, 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored. Say no more...he got the award.
Sharp is hitting .416 this season with 18 home runs, 124 RBIs and 77 runs scored. He has 190 hits in 457 at-bats.

 | Wednesday, August 12th, 2009: 5-Hit Game for Darcy!
"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," San Antonio's Aaron Darcy told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."
It definitely turn out well for Darcy today as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats against New Orleans. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Gunslingers knocked off the Ragin' Cajuns 12-3 at Alamo Stadium.
A. Darcy hit a solo-shot off M. Trevino in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
Presently Darcy is batting .321 and has collected 11 home runs, 51 RBIs, .412 OBP and scored 90 runs.

| Saturday, August 1st, 2009: Best LL Rookie Named, Nod to Sharp
Michael Sharp sure isn't playing like the rookie he is. The 21-year-old catcher for New Orleans is rapping the ball like a seasoned veteran in the Liberty League and today he took home the Rookie of the Month Award for his effort.
In July, Sharp compiled a .388 batting average. He drove in 26 runs, hit 3 home runs and scored 15 times.
This year Sharp is batting .396 with 12 home runs.
