| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 22nd, 2009: Soriano Hittin' on all Cylinders! Hits Cycle! It was a game of mixed emotions for Justo Soriano. He had just had one of the best games of his career -- he had hit for the cycle -- but his Nashville Crusaders lost the game 3-2 to Virginia Beach at Ballpark of Saint Paul.
"Normally when you have a great game like this, it makes you feel real good. But the loss takes some of it away."
For the game Soriano collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, including a single, double, triple and home run, along with 1 run batted in and 1 run scored. As a consolation prize Soriano also got a spot in the league record book.
J. Soriano doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off M. Korn in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Soriano is swinging the bat at a .283 rate with 117 hits in 413 at-bats. To date he has hit 9 home runs, scored 85 runs and driven in 61. | | Thursday, May 21st, 2009: Tommy Nasca of Nashville Out Sick Nashville reliever Tommy Nasca hasn't been feeling well lately and now has been diagnosed with strep throat. He's expected to be out for one week.
This season Nasca has recorded no saves with a 0-2 record. He's made no relief appearances, tossed 20 innings while fanning 4 with a 3.15 ERA. | | Tuesday, April 14th, 2009: Big Day with Bat, Gilson 6-6 What a day for Jared Gilson of the Silicon Valley Hackers! A 6-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen everyday! He ripped Nashville pitching apart at Broncs Ballpark and sparked the Hackers to a 11-10 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing up his special day 6-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Gilson told SION reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."
J. Gilson hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off P. Wilcox in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off T. Padilla in the 10th.
