| Breaking News | | Wednesday, August 12th, 2009: Aguirre Fashions Shutout Against Naperville Abel Aguirre of the Altoona Curve was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Naperville Redhawks with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 2-0 shutout.
In the postgame comments, the Naperville skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Altoona hurler had 7 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 2 hits in his complete game effort.
Aguirre told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."
In 23 starts this season Aguirre has compiled a 10-9 record and a 3.31 ERA. | | Tuesday, July 14th, 2009: Gwyn Hurls Redhawks to Shutout Victory He didn't put a spell on them. It wasn't black magic, it was just old-fashioned good pitching. That's how Nathan Gwyn of the Naperville Redhawks blanked the American Somoa Lake Monsters 7-0.
After tossing a complete game 2-hit shutout, he was all smiles, saying, "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game. I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."
His own skipper said, "He's at his best when he gets ahead of the hitters." Gwyn walked 4 and struck out 3 in the victory.
The Lake Monsters manager commented on their lack of success against him, saying, "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes."
To date this year in 14 starts, Gwyn has crafted a 6-5 mark with a 4.38 ERA. | | Saturday, July 4th, 2009: Mobile Blanked by Domingo In a splendid 7-0 shutout performance, John Domingo of the Naperville Redhawks subdued the Mobile Marauders on a 5-hitter.
His manager said in postgame comments, "He kept hitting his spots and putting up zeroes."
Domingo registered 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.
This season-to-date Domingo has 5 wins and 4 losses and a 4.34 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
