| Breaking News |  | Saturday, August 1st, 2009: Nelson Sizzles! Smokes Patriots for 5 Hits!
5 hits in 6 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Terry Nelson of the Myrtle Beach Blue Demons had a sensational 5-6 game against Connellsville at Ballpark of Spokane. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 10-4 shellacking of the Patriots.
In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off...Right, skipper?"
T. Nelson singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off J. Arambola in the 9th.
Thus far this year Nelson has hit .310 with 4 home runs and 28 RBIs.

Ben Land of the Gulf Coast Privateers was really in the zone as he mowed down the Myrtle Beach hitters 6-0 in a sterling mound performance.
"I'm feeling good overall," he said.
"I'm executing my pitches, I'm able to hit my spots and I'm getting outs in key situations."
Land shut down the Myrtle Beach Blue Demons, blanking them on 4 hits while registering 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
This season Land has a 7-5 record with a 3.48 ERA in 19 starts.

Luis Romero finds himself in the United League spotlight today after his impossible-to-ignore performance last week. He carried the Myrtle Beach Blue Demons on his shoulders, earning United League Player of the Week honors.
The 18-year-old hit .455 (10-22) with 3 home runs and 6 runs batted in.
So far this season Romero is hitting .339 with 6 home runs, 32 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 75 hits in 221 at-bats and a .393 OBP.
